Places to Visit in Lansdowne:

Bhulla Tal: 

Bhulla Tal is the most loved and favourable picnic place for tourists and locals. It is a man-made lake famous for its natural beauty and amidst hilly trees. Bhulla Tal is just 1km away from the main city centre, which can be reached by trek or by any means of transportation. One can experience boating here under the lush greenery. 

  • The Lake welcomes tourists throughout the week from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and then from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
  • To visit the lake, the entry fee is there. 
  • The boating activity is chargeable and costs around rs.50-150/ depending on the boat you are riding on. 

Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple:

This Tarkeshwar Mahadev temple is a Hindu temple of lord Shiva. Tarkeshwar resembles the three lords Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma, as the shivling here has three faces resembling three gods and is known as Tarkeshwar. The temple is 5,905 meters above sea level, at an altitude of 1,800 meters. This place is surrounded by the thick forests of cedar and pine. It is famous for its old architecture as the temple is more than a century old.

  • The darshan timing here is 6:00 am to 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Santoshi Mata Temple: 

The Santoshi Mata temple is a Hindu temple of the goddess Santoshi Maa. One unique thing about the temple is there is no priest in this temple, still, it is clean and beautiful, also known as the perfect sunset point. Santoshi Mata temple is 3km away from the main city centre. One can visit here by road, and have to go 100-odd upstairs to experience the holiness of Santoshi mata. 

  • One can visit the temple between 5:00 am to 8:00 pm but the best time to visit here is 5:30 to 6:30 pm because the view at sunset is mind-boggling. 
  • The mandir is located just above the tip & top point. You can visit the tip-top point by road and then from the tip & top point by walking you can reach the temple in a short time.  

Tip & Top Point: 

Tip & Top is also known as Tiffin Point, Tiffin point is at 3,000 meters above sea level with a height of 17,000 meters and 1.5 km away from the main city of Garhwal. One can reach here by road, travelling or you can reach here by trekking. At Tiffin Point, you will experience some of the panoramic views of the Garhwal hills with the majestic Himalayan range as the backdrop. 

  • You can visit here anytime in 24 hours. 
  • Carrying warm clothes is necessary here, as it becomes so chilly at night.

St. Mary’s Church, Lansdowne:

St.Mary Church was established in 1895 and was constructed by Col. It is a catholic church with historic memories. No dress code is there to visit the church but one should avoid denim before entering the church, no short skirts, or hats should be removed outside and please cover the shoulder. 

  • St Mary’s church is free to visit here, you can donate as per your choice here for the maintenance and cleanliness of the Catholic church. 
  • The Church is providing a free guidance tour on at sunday 2 pm. The cathedral shop is the meeting point. 

Darwan Singh Museum:

Darwan Singh Museum is a pride of Lansdowne and a historical defence museum, which was constructed in 1923 to celebrate the victory of the Garhwal Rifles. This unique museum is a collection of unique uniforms, photos of army people and many more. 

  • The timing of the Darwan Singh Museum is 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • It has an entry fee of 50 INR

Bhim Pakora: 

Bhim Pakora is one of the best places to visit in Lansdowne. It is just a 2km downhill trek away from the city. The place is satisfying with a surprising view of two stones maintaining balance over each other for years and when you touch it both will tangle but not fall off. The place is underneath the laps of nature. You will be witnessing the scenic beauty by visiting here. The road to Bhim Pakora is steep so avoid visiting there by car although you can trek here.

  • Avoid visiting here by car or by any transport. The place is only 2 km away, so try to visit by trekking.

By Train: 

The Nearest railway station to Lansdowne is in Kotdwar. That is only 40 km from the centre of Lansdowne Hill Station. Hence you should not take the stress of the journey to your destination. Just book the online tickets on the IRCTC website from your hometown to Kotdwar. Once you reach here, then book any cab or taxi present over there to your destination site. 

By Airway: 

The distance between Lansdowne and Jolly Grant Airport, located in Dehradun is only 143 Km. So you should prefer to book air tickets to this airport only. From here onwards, you can reach your hill station in approximately 4 hours. 

Lansdowne Weather 

Generally, the weather in this place is on the colder side of the Mercury scale. From November to February, the hill station remains occupied by cold breezes and low temperatures. Many people say that it’s the perfect location to celebrate the 25th of December, that is Christmas. So, if you are searching for any location to spend quality time with your loved ones on Christmas Eve then consider Lansdowne at least once in a lifetime.
