Madmaheshwar Temple Trek:
Out of the five temples that adhere to Lord Shiva in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, Madmaheswar comes 2nd in the cluster. There are no motorable roads directly connected to the sanctum, from onwards Ransi village you’ll have to trek. Heightened at 3,497m the trek to the temple is accessible moderately.
The complex of the temple is nestled in between the four pillars (Chaukhambha) of the high-mountainous peaks of Kedarnath and Neelkanth. The vicinity also features the endangered Himalayan Musk deers and Himalayan monal pheasant to be precise.
Rudranath Temple:
Surrounded by the dense, lush green forest full of Rhododendron flowers and meadows of Alpines, Rudranath Temple is the 4th temple in the Panch Kedar circuit. Within the temple complex, you’ll witness numerous tanks filled with sacred waters and even at its backdrop, the peaks of Trishul Parvat, Nanda Devi and Nanda Ghunti can be seen.
To add to this, the pious river of Vaitarni flows near the temple and makes the environment more spiritual. The trek to Rudranath ji starts from the Sagar village and hardly requires 30 min to reach.
Panar Bugyal:
A retreat to the Panar Bugyal landscape in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand is considered very tranquil and serene. It’s a highly balanced and well-paved trek with almost no difficulty but offers spectacular views of High-rise mountain peaks. This paradise blooms and glows even more in the pleasant weather of spring and summer, giving birth to numerous enchanting alpine flowers.
Rudranath temple falls under a trek of 10 km from this pasture land. The route to the bugyal is approachable from various major destinations of Uttarakhand.
Kalpeshwar Temple:
With the pristine vistas, the Urgam Valley situated in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand encompasses the revered shrine of Lord Shiva called Kalpeshwar. This is counted as the fifth divinity sanctum of Panch Kedar temples. The route to the doors of this temple is one of the most approachable and motorable roads. It’s hardly 300m above Devgram village that you’ll have to cover by foot.
Moreover, it’s also the only Panch Kedar temple that is available for the Devotees to have darshans throughout the year. On its way, you’ll also witness the confluence of two devout rivers, Alaknanda and Kalpganga.
Sagar Village:
At a distance of 5-6 km from Gopeshwar is located this pristine village, Sagar. The villagers here entertain the life of authenticity. The hustles of the outside world can easily be forgotten in this nature’s wonderland. There are numerous streams of fresh water flowing along the village and even several treks to different temples and to meadows start from here.
Locally proven as a highly pious and sacred temple of Sakleahwar Mahadev is also situated here.
Ransi:
The village that serves as the gateway to one of the Panch Kedar temples, Madmaheshwar in itself is a peaceful hidden jewel. In the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, this tiny hamlet comprises many sceneries in its surroundings. The place also offers a rich variety of biodiversity. Many devotees take this route for other different treks as well such as Nandi Kund Lake, Kanchani Tal and more.
The region also delivers a deep insight into the terraced lands, greenery and picturesque landscapes.
On the first day of Panch Kedar Yatra, we shall make you reach from Haridwar to Guptkashi. This road journey is about 202 Km long and our driver will take 7 hours to cover this. That's why, we shall insist that you meet us on the morning of the first day on time. So that we can start this long journey as early as possible. It is important to reach the lodge venue in Guptkashi before the sky gets dark. When you reach the venue, then go, finish the formalities and walk into your room. In Guptkashi, there is a temple of Ardhnarishwar, you should go there before dinnertime. You will stay for this night in Guptkashi and it's up to us to arrange the dinner meal for you.
This Day of Panch Kedar Yatra will take you to the first Dham of this Shiv Teerth Pilgrimage circuit which is Kedarnath Dham. So in the morning, you have to submit your extra luggage in the locked room of Guptkashi Lodge where you stayed or in our cab. You can keep the essentials that you wanna carry on Kedarnath Yatra. Thereafter the driver will make you reach Sonprayag, which is a 26 km distance from Guptkashi. But as there are sloping roads, it will take about 1 hour to reach. In the route of Sonprayag, you will pass through Narayankoti, Phata and Rampur. On the right side of this route, the Mandakini river runs downwards. You can visit the Dhari Devi temple on the way. In Sonprayag, you will get a taxi for the Gaurikund, so book anyone and go to the trek starting point. This distance of 4.9 Km will be covered in approximately 20 minutes by taxi. Then you have to trek for the Kedarnath Dham. After reaching there, go to the Lodge where we will manage your overnight stay. Then you can go to the Darshan and explore the Kedarnath Dham. At night, come to the room and stay there.
This day, we shall move from Kedarnath to the Ransi Village. On the way, you shall pass through Guptkashi. From there, you can pick up your luggage and then proceed to Ransi. Our team will try to make you reach there before the night. In Ransi, we shall provide you with a safe stay as well as a night meal.
The 4th day of the Panch Kedar Yatra will take you to the 2nd Primary destination which is Madhmaheshwar Temple. For Madhmaheshwar, you have the option of trekking only. So along with the other pilgrims, trek to the religious site. When you arrive there, go to the address we have given to you. There you will get a room for a night stay and other basic services.
Wake up early in the morning and purify yourself for the purpose of going to the temple. Afterwards, go to the Madhmaheshwar temple and get Darshan peacefully. After Darshan, you have to come back to the stay location. Then you should fulfil your appetite and then start the trekking to the Ransi Village. You will reach the Ransi by evening and then you can stay there in the hotel. We shall be responsible for offering you dinner and a clean stay option in Ransi.
On the Day of Panch Kedar Yatra, you will proceed to the 3rd temple of the tour which is Tungnath Temple. So to get there, you will go to the base camp Chopta. Our driver will take you to a camp in Chopta. Here we shall surprise you with an adventurous stay in Chopta, which will be in a camp. So after reaching the camp, refresh yourself and then start trekking for your destination Tungnath temple. When you arrive there, do Pooja, enjoy the view, spend some time and then trek to the Chopta again. Till evening, come to the camp and there you will get a fresh hot meal to eat and enjoy the post-trek moments.
On day 7th, you will wake up in the Chopta Camp. Enjoy the morning, because it is a rare and precious moment to feel. In the camp, you will get breakfast and then the driver will come to transfer you. He will take you from Chopta to Sagar village. In Sagar village, you will be offered accommodation and food. And you will stay the night there.
In the morning, you should start trekking to the Panar Bugyal. After 6-7 hours, when you will reach there, you will get the camp stay here also. Similar to Chopta, stay overnight in the camp and eat the dinner offered by the camp organisers.
On the 9th day of this Panch Kedar tour, you will go to Rudranath temple, which is the 4th temple of this circuit. You will start trekking in the morning to the Rudranath Temple. And after Darshan, you have to come back to Panar Bugyal. Tonight, you will stay there in Panar Bugyal Camp.
Today, you have to trek to Sagar village from Panar Bugyal. After 7 hours of trekking, you will reach the village and then go to the hotel. Like always, we shall provide the meal and stay.
On Day 11, the driver will come and help you reach Helang. From Helang, you will go to the last religious site that is Kalpeshwar Temple. And then after Pooja, you will return to Helang. There, we shall provide the hotel for you.
The last day of Panch Kedar Yatra will take you to Haridwar.
To follow the Panch Kedar sequence, you must first visit the Kedarnath temple and then the Tungnath Mahadev temple. From there, turn towards the Rudranath Temple and then proceed to Madhya Maheshwar and the Kalpeshwar Temple at the last.
The toughest trek among all the Panch Kedar temples is considered to be the Rudranath temple. The terrain leading to the temple is very steep and rocky.
If you want to enjoy this journey leisurely and without any fatigue, you must take at least 12-14 days to cover this journey. But, if you are time-bound, you can complete it in 8-10 days as well.
In the circuit of Panch Kedar, there are a total of 5 temples of Mahadev, which include Kedarnath, Tungnath, Rudranath, Madhya Maheshwar, and the Kalpeshwar Temples.
