About Panch Badri

The Uttarakhand state consists of Panch Badri in its Chamoli district. This tour of Panch Badri is a pilgrimage to five ancient temples devoted to Lord Vishnu. According to Hindu beliefs and sentiments, the tour is referred to as the most meaningful after the Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand.

These temples are remembered as Yog Dhyan Badri, Bhavishya Badri, Vridha Badri, Adi Badri, and Badrinath(Badri Vishal). All these holy temples carry high spirituality and their significance towards the Hindu religion.

Religious significances

Adi Badri:

Amongst all five shrines of lord Vishnu, this comes as the First and foremost temple. It is said that when the main temple, Badrinath Dham, becomes unapproachable in winter, the devotees come here to present their devotions to the deity. The prominent Adi Guru Shankaracharya Ji is believed to be the creator of the said complex.

Bhavisya Badri:

The name itself depicts an image in the minds of the devotees as the Future Badrinath. It is assumed that when in the future at some point the Nar and Narayan mountains will meet each other and block the path of reaching the present Badrinath temple, this bhavisya badri temple will turn into the main sanctum.

Yog Dhyan Badri:

Here, the Lord Vishnu statue is in the Meditation pose, so the place is known as Yog Dhyan, i.e., in Yoga posture.   This temple is located at the Pandukeshwar Village, which is named after the father of Pandavas, Pandu. He was the one who installed the bronze statue of the deity Vishnu.

Vridha Badri:

The deity here presides as an older man; according to its myth beliefs, it is believed that Lord Vishnu himself appeared as an old man before Narad ji took penance. Among all of the Panch Badri, this is the only temple that stays available for offering worship throughout the year.

Vishal Badrinath:

The main temple, also considered in Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand, is located in the Chamoli district between the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges. It was constructed under the navigation Of Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century.
