Day 1: Begin from Ahmedabad to Haridwar +

Distance from Ahmedabad to Haridwar: 1,201 km (22 hours approx.)

Welcome to Kedarnath Yatra! A spiritual quest from Ahmedabad to Shiv Nagri in Uttarakhand that lies in Kedar Khand(region). One of the 12 self-manifested shivlings, Kedarnath is the most desirable place to visit which is among Panch Kedar and part of Chota Char Dham Yatra.

Your journey from Ahmedabad begins by packing your bags and leaving for Haridwar(the starting point of your journey). You can take a train from Ahmedabad Junction to Haridwar Railway Station or direct flight from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport(Ahmedabad) to Jolly Grant Airport(Dehradun) which is a 2-3 hours duration and then enroute to Haridwar. Our driver will receive you and drive to your accommodation pre-booked in Haridwar. You can rest there and have some refreshments. Moreover, you can take time for Ganga Aarti in Har ki Pauri and darshan to religious sites like Mansa Devi Temple, Bilvkeshwar Temple, Bharat Mata Mandir, Shanti Kunj, etc. Have a good sleep in your room as we will route towards Kedarnath through Guptkashi, the pilgrim stop.

Day 2: Pilgrim Stop: Haridwar to Guptkashi +

Distance from Haridwar to Guptkashi: 205.4 km (approximately 6 hours)

On the second day of Kedarnath yatra, get ready as after breakfast we will leave for Guptkashi(pilgrim resting point). Travelling through the lush meadows and alpine peaks we will reach Guptkashi after a 6 hours drive.
Guptkashi is a holy town where Shiva hid in the form of a bull to escape from Pandavas, as he was unhappy with the outcomes and bloodshed of Kurukshetra war. When you reach your accommodation in Guptkashi, check into your room. Relax, have your meal and explore the city. Try to visit holy temples like Vishwanath Temple, Shakti Temple, Ardhanareshwar Temple, and Manikarnika Kund. Return to the room and sleep for our main destination, Kedarnath Dham.

Day 3: Guptkashi to Kedarnath Dham Yatra +

Distance from Guptkashi to Gaurikund: 36 km (1-2 hours)
Trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath: 16 km (6-7 hours)

On day three of your tour, we will head towards our main destination to Kedarnath. We have to leave early in the morning as trek allowances are around 4.00 pm to 1.30 pm and you have to stay one night in the dham as after 5.00 pm no one is allowed to leave Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary.
Immediately after eating food, the driver drops you at Sonprayag, passing through holy confluences like Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag and Devprayag. You have to hire a jeep from Sonprayag to Gaurikund. After reaching Gaurikund which is the base camp for the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary trek. Mules, Kandi and Dandi/palkis(palanquin) are available to hire for senior citizens and people who can't trek.
Want to skip trek? A helicopter service is available from Guptkashi, Phata or Sersi to Helipad in Kedarnath Dham, which is 0.5 km from the temple.
Accommodations like camps, dharamshalas, restrooms and homestays are available near the temple to keep your belongings and have a night stay. You can do darshan of Baba Kedar and the Swayambhu Jyotirlinga. Also, you can request special puja like Shivling abhishek and present offerings to the Lord Shiva. Bookings for VIP darshan, and puja-aarti slots online are available for devotees, however, it depends on availability. Be part of the auspicious evening aarti of Baba Kedarnath. Day 4: Return from Kedarnath to Guptkashi +

Now it's time to return from Kedarnath and go back to Guptkashi. Seek morning darshan and trek back to Gaurikund. From Gaurikund jeeps are available that will take you back to Sonprayag. In Sonprayag, our driver will be waiting to pick you up. On your route to Guptkashi, you can stop near holy confluences: Rudraprayag, Devprayag and Karnaprayag for darshan. You can take a small break at Srinagar for snacks or if you wish to purchase something. THe driver will take you back to your hotel. You can rest, dine on your food and sleep as you came from the tiring journey.

Day 5: Guptkashi to Haridwar +

Eat your breakfast and check out from the hotel. The driver will take you back to Haridwar where you have started your tour. Traversing back you will again travel through hilly terrain passing from the alpine mountains and meadows. Check into your room in Haridwar, eat your food and rest for sometime. You can again take a walk in the streets of Haridwar and attend Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri. You can shop at the marketplace, interact with locals, take pictures or try local food of Haridwar. After that spend overnight in your room as next day you will leave for your home in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Day 6: Back to Ahmedabad +

On the last day of your tour, you will be departing from Haridwar to your home in Ahmedabad. After having your meal, pack your bags and be ready to leave for your departure location. Best Way To Travel from Ahmedabad to Kedarnath

Ahmedabad to Haridwar(starting) distance: 1,183 km

Roadways – Travel by state  bus or traveller cars that operate from Ahmedabad to Haridwar/ Dehradun. 

Railways – Take a train from Ahmedabad Junction/ Kalupur Railway Station to Haridwar Railway Station and then take a bus or cab to Sonprayag and then trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath.

Airways – Take a flight from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun (1050+ km, 1 hour hours). Hire a cab ride to the Sonprayag, then jeep to the Gaurikund base camp where you have to trek for Kedarnath Dham(16 km) which takes 6-8 hours. Moreover, if you wish you can take helicopter services at Guptkashi, Sersi or Phata.

  • Kumaoni Raita is a fusion of spices, cucumber, mustard seeds, turmeric and tadka in mustard oil spilled over fresh curd.
  • Bhang Ki Chutney is a liquid jam made of dry bhang leaves, hemp seeds, green chillies, coriander and spices.
  • Garhwal Ka Fannah
  • Phaanu is made from gahat ki dal, a soaked horse-gram lentil mixed with Pahari spices, and eaten with rice.
  • Jakhya Aloo is a special type of potato dish that is tempered with the Jakhya seeds with the mixing of tamarind(imli), tomatoes and pinch of lemon taste.
  • Kumaoni Bhatt ki Churkani is a dish made with soyabeans blended with curd and tomatoes giving it a tangy flavour.

  • Bal Mithai is a chocolate-fudge-like sweet made with roasted Khoya(made with milk) in brown colour and covered with white poppy seeds.
  • Singori is a Kumaon sweet dish similar to Kalakhand, made with Khoya and wrapped with Maalu leaf.
  • Jhangora Ki Kheer is a sweet dessert made with Jhangora(bajra or barnyard millet), milk and dry nuts like almonds, cashew nuts, and raisins.
  • Arsa is a traditional Pahari dish made with rice flour and then cooked in mustard oil. This special dish is made during events and ceremonies at Garhwali homes and used as paina or gift.
  • Gulgule is a special snack made from jaggery water and wheat flour kneaded with it. Then it is fried in oil and also is given as offerings to the deities.
  • Pahadi Cookie Roat is a healthy cookie made with wheat, semolina or suji and jaggery cooked in desi ghee. It is used as offering to the deities, especially Baba Balaknath Ji as prasad and paina as gift for sasural by the bridal.

The doors of Kedarnath Temple opens on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya. The date for the opening of the temple is announced by the priest of Omkareshwar Temple(Ukhimath) on Mahashivratri.
