Distance: 239.8 km(3-4 hours)
Beginning your journey from Delhi or another major city, you can travel by state bus or travel car via Delhi-Panipat Expressway, NH 709AD & NH334.

Another route you can take from Delhi-Haridwar road is 246.6 km and takes more than 4 hours.

Haridwar is a holy gateway to many pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand. People also visit Haridwar to seek darshan of Ganga Mata and many religious sites like Har ki Pauri, Bharat Mata Mandir, Shri Bilvkeshwar Mahadev Temple, and others.
Railway
Rail Distance: 235 km(3 hrs 25 mins) by Vande Bharat and other trains may take 7 hours approximately to cover 250 km.
The nearest railway station to Haridwar is Haridwar Railway Station. The train journey is faster and more convenient than a road trip. There are two options, either travel from New Delhi or Old Delhi to Haridwar. Various trains from Delhi run for Haridwar such as Vande Bharat, Dehradun Shatabdi Express, Haridwar SF Express and others.
The rail journey approximately takes 6 hours to reach other travelling through station stops. From Haridwar, we will begin our journey to four pilgrimage sites through a road trip.
Airways
Aerial Distance: 208 km(45 mins to 1 hr approx.)
Another fastest means to travel for Char Dham is to take a direct flight from Delhi to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. From Dehradun you will be directly driven to your accommodation in Barkot.
Seniors travelling from other cities can reach Delhi Airport and then take a 1 hour cab drive to Haridwar.

- Kumaoni Raita is a fusion of spices, cucumber, mustard seeds, turmeric and tadka in mustard oil spilled over fresh curd.
- Phaanu is made from gahat ki dal, a soaked horse-gram lentil mixed with Pahari spices, and eaten with rice.
- Kumaoni Bhatt ki Churkani is a dish made with soyabeans blended with curd and tomatoes giving it a tangy flavour.
Uttarakhandi Sweets
- Bal Mithai is a chocolate-fudge-like sweet made with roasted Khoya(made with milk) in brown colour and covered with white poppy seeds.
- Singori is a Kumaon sweet dish similar to Kalakhand, made with Khoya and wrapped with Maalu leaf.
- Jhangora Ki Kheer is a sweet dessert made with Jhangora(bajra or barnyard millet), milk and dry nuts like almonds, cashew nuts, and raisins.
- Arsa is a traditional Pahari dish made with rice flour and then cooked in mustard oil.
- Gulgule is a special snack made from jaggery water and wheat flour kneaded with it. Then it is fried in oil and also is given as offerings to the deities.
- Pahadi Cookie Roat is a healthy cookie made with wheat, semolina or suji and jaggery cooked in desi ghee. It is used as offering to the deities, especially Baba Balaknath Ji as prasad and paina as gift for sasural by the bridal.
