Day 1: Begin Yatra from Vadodara to Haridwar +

Vadodara to Haridwar: 1,815 km (20 hours approximately)

Char Dham is a holy trail to the four cardinal pilgrimage sites in Hinduism that holds great significance. If you are travelling from Vadodara to Haridwar, there are different ways to reach here.
You can reach by bus, travel car, train or airplane. Our driver will receive you from the arrival place, either Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun or Haridwar Railway Station. You will be taken to your accommodation in Haridwar, where you can rest and explore the religious sites like Ganga Ghat, Mansa Devi, Har Ki Pauri, etc. You can have your meal at your hotel and sleep for the next day. We will head to our first stop, Barkot, that will lead us towards the first pilgrimage site of Char Dham, Yamunotri.

Day 2: Drive from Haridwar to Barkot +

Haridwar to Barkot: 175.2 km (5 hour 22 min)

The second morning of your tour, we will head towards Barkot, the stop station for the first Dham, Yamunotri. When your breakfast is done, you will leave for your accommodation in Barkot. Nestled in the Garhwal region, Barkot is land of green valleys and mountain terrain. After driving through the scenic route, the driver will drop you at a hotel in Barkot. Check inan your room, savour your meal and rest for the following day at Yamunotri Dham, the first pilgrimage site of the Char Dham yatra.

Day 3: First Dham: Barkot to Yamunotri and Returning to Barkot Again +

Barkot to Yamunotri: 45.6 km (1 hour)

With the peaceful stay at Barkot, on the third day of the morning after breakfast, we will leave for our first dham of the yatra, Yamunotri. The driver will pick you up from the hotel to the 6 km trek base, Jankichatti or Phoolchatti. After arriving at Jankichatti, either trek on foot to the location. Otherwise, hire a doli or mule/horse ride at your own expense. On arrival at Yamunotri Dham, take a bath in Jamnabai Kund as a ritual before Yamunaji darshan. Visit the Yamunotri Temple of Devi Yamuna, daughter of Surya Dev and the Surya Kund. At Surya Kund, the devotees cook raw rice or potatoes as a blessing from Lord Surya(Sun). If possible, trek to Kharsali to see Shani Temple and the winter seat of Yamunotri.
After exploring Yamunotri, trek back to Jankichatti, where our driver will be ready to pick you up and drop you at the hotel in Barkot. Savour your food and have a good night's sleep.

Day 4: Driving from Barkot to Uttarkashi +

It's the 4th day of the yatra, and we have completed our visit to the first dham. Now from Barkot we will leave for the stopover of the second dham: Gangotri. The driver will pick you after you have finished your meal. Take your bags and the driver will drive through the beautiful valleys and hills that go towards Uttarkashi. Also, called as North of Kashi, the place has Vishwanath Temple where devotees worship Lord Shiva. When you reach your room, you can rest and have your food. If you want you can roam the city streets or visit holy shrines in Uttarkashi. Take ample rest for tomorrow’s day visit to Gangotri Dham.

Day 5: Second Dham: Uttarkashi to Gangotri and Return Uttarkashi +

Uttarkashi to Gangotri: 97.6 km (approximately 3 hours)

On the 5th day, we will visit the second dham, Gangotri, to worship the holy river Ganga. After breakfast, we will depart from Uttarkashi to the sacred Gangotri Dham, the driver will pick you up from the hotel. A beautiful Harsil Valley comes in the path. You can visit there after darshan of Gangotri Dham. On arrival, you will see the divine town on the banks of the gushing Bhagirathi River, the source of the River Ganga. You will be dropped off at 0.5 km from the Dham, where you will walk to the Yamunotri Temple. The wheelchair service is also available for the elderly and people with health constraints. When you reach, seek the darshan of the Ganga River and Maa Ganga Temple. If you want to seek the originating place of the Ganga, visit Gaumukh Glacier on a 17 km trek.
After you have spent your time at Gangotri Dham, the operator will drop you back to Uttarkashi. On reaching the hotel, you can rest in your room and sleep for the following day's journey to Kedarnath Dham.

Day 6: Next Stop: Uttarkashi to Guptkashi +

Uttarkashi to Guptkashi: 185 km (approximately 6 hours)

After eating your morning fuel, the driver will take you to the secret city of Lord Shiva, Guptkashi. It is the next stopover for the Kedarnath yatra. Driver will drop you off at your hotel in Guptkashi, where you can rest in your room. On arriving at your hotel, check into your room and if you want you can roam about in Guptkashi. Explore the pilgrimage sites and culture of local pahadi. Have your meal at the hotel and get enough sleep, because the next day's journey will be exciting and tiring.

Day 7: Third Dham: Guptkashi to Kedarnath +

Guptkashi to Kedarnath: 30 km+16 km trek (3 hours)

Har Har Mahadev! On Day 7, we will head towards Kedarnath Dham through Gaurikund. When you finish your breakfast, pack your things in a trek bag as you will go to Sonprayag and then Gaurikund, the trek base for Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. At Sonprayag, jeeps are available to drive you to Gaurikund which you have to hire from there only. On reaching Gaurikund, those who can’t trek or senior citizens are there, they can hire a doli, pithu or mule/pony ride.
Devotees selected for helicopter services, instead of trek from Gaurikund, will be taken at the Guptkashi, Phata or Sirsu helipad. You will be reaching Kedarnath Helipad after covering 15-20 minutes aerial distance.
When you have reached Kedarnath Dham, seek darshan of the sacred Swayambhu Jyotirlinga which is the hump of Lord Shiva’s bull form and perform religious activities like puja, shivling abhishek, and meditate on his name. If you have completed your darshan, either you can take accommodation near a temple or explore the spiritual essence of the Dham. You can shop and eat at local stalls, click some photos or learn about the culture of the people living there. Don’t forget to attend the evening aarti of Lord Shiva and Maa Ganga. Rest at your accommodation and have your meal, also on the following day we will return to Guptkashi.

Day 8: Kedarnath to Guptkashi +

Kedarnath to Guptkashi: 30 km+16 km trek (3 hours)

After darshan and morning aarti of Lord Shiva, you have to trek back to Gaurikund in the same way you came here. Before visiting you can visit stalls and take some things or gifts for yourself and loved ones. When you reach Gaurikund, the jeeps are available to travel to Sonprayag where our driver will be waiting. You will drive back to Guptkashi, after the driver has picked you up from Sonprayag. During your route, you can stop and see holy confluences like Rudrapray, Sonprayag, Karnaprayag and Devprayag. He will drop you back at Guptkashi’s hotel where you can rest and have your meal. Have a good night's sleep as the following day we will drive towards Joshimath.

Day 9: Guptkashi to Joshimath +

Guptkashi to Joshimath: 154 km (4-5 hours)

We will travel to the next stop, Joshimath for the last pilgrimage darshan of Char Dham. Popularly known for Sri Adi Shankaracharya and many Hindu institutions and temples, established by him, Joshimath offers views of alpine meadows. After finishing your breakfast, the driver will pick you from Guptkashi and drive to this holy city. He will drop you at a hotel in Joshimath where you must check in the room and then you can take a rest. Eat your meal by the hotel, and spend time visiting the town streets. After exploration, come back to your room and sleep for the next day's journey.

Day 10: Fourth Dham: Badrinath Dham and Return to Joshimath +

Joshimath to Badrinath: 41 km (2 hours)

On the 10th day of the tour, we will leave Joshimath for our last pilgrimage to Badrinath Dham of Lord Vishnu as Badri Narayan, believed that Lord Vishnu has meditated here. The Dham got its name from Badri-a wild berry tree. As this region has many Badri trees, it is said that Maa Lakshmi took the form of Badri tree to give shade to Lord Vishnu who was meditating. The road to Badrinath Dham is well-connected and we will directly reach the Dham. There is a hot spring called Tapt Kund, you must first bathe here before darshan. After bathing, you can enter the temple sanctum and worship Lord Badri. Experience the religious importance of the dham and visit near Mana village at 8 minutes distance from Badrinath Temple. After darshan and exploring Badrinath Dham, return Joshimath with our driver at your hotel.

Day 11: Joshimath to Haridwar +

Joshimath to Haridwar: 227 km (8 hours)

On the Day 11, you will be travelling towards Haridwar for a return journey. After visiting Badrinath Dham, we ended up with the Chota Char Dham Tour. Now it's your time to return Vadodara to Haridwar. Carry all your belongings, eat your morning meal, and you will leave for Haridwar with our driver. The driver will take you back to your accommodation in Haridwar. After reaching Haridwar, check in to your hotel first and keep your stuff in the room. Take some time for Haridwar tour, seek darshan of Maa Ganga, Har Ki Pauri, Mansa Devi, Bharat Mata Temple and other religious sites, as per your choice. Explore the local markets, street food and handicrafts. Have your meal at your hotel and sleep to return back to home(Vadodara) the next day.

Day 12: Back to Vadodara +

Finally, we have concluded with our Chota Char Dham Yatra. Pack your bags and you will be leaving Haridwar to go back to your city, Vadodara, Gujarat. Bid goodbye and head with our driver to the departure location: airport, railway station or New Delhi. Railway(19 hr 45 mins):

Another route is travelling by train from Vadodara Junction to Haridwar Railway Station. Many trains like Haridwar Express and Yog Nagri Rishikesh SF Express runs on regular bases from Vadodara to Haridwar and vice-versa. You can get a cab or rental car from the station.

Airways:

There are two ways you can get to Haridwar by flight from Vadodara:

  • First, take a flight from Vadodara International Airport to New Delhi Airport(984 km) which will approximately take 1 hour 35 minutes. After reaching Delhi, either take a cab or interstate bus to travel to Haridwar which takes more than 5 hours to cover 213 km.
  • Secondly, you can take a direct flight from Vadodara to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun at an aerial distance of 1003 km (more than 8 hours). Then, go to Haridwar(50 km, 1 hour approx.) by bus or taxi.

  • Kumaoni Raita is a fusion of spices, cucumber, mustard seeds, turmeric and tadka in mustard oil spilled over fresh curd.
  • Bhang Ki Chutney is a liquid jam made of dry bhang leaves, hemp seeds, green chillies, coriander and spices.
  • Garhwal Ka Fannah
  • Phaanu is made from gahat ki dal, a soaked horse-gram lentil mixed with Pahari spices, and eaten with rice.
  • Jakhya Aloo is a special type of potato dish that is tempered with the Jakhya seeds with the mixing of tamarind(imli), tomatoes and pinch of lemon taste.
  • Kumaoni Bhatt ki Churkani is a dish made with soyabeans blended with curd and tomatoes giving it a tangy flavour.

Sweet Delights:

  • Bal Mithai is a chocolate-fudge-like sweet made with roasted Khoya(made with milk) in brown colour and covered with white poppy seeds.
  • Singori is a Kumaon sweet dish similar to Kalakhand, made with Khoya and wrapped with Maalu leaf.
  • Jhangora Ki Kheer is a sweet dessert made with Jhangora(bajra or barnyard millet), milk and dry nuts like almonds, cashew nuts, and raisins.
  • Arsa is a traditional Pahari dish made with rice flour and then cooked in mustard oil. This special dish is made during events and ceremonies at Garhwali homes and used as paina or gift.
  • Gulgule is a special snack made from jaggery water and wheat flour kneaded with it. Then it is fried in oil and also is given as offerings to the deities.
