This artificial lake in Mussoorie is loved by tourists for its scenic beauty. It is surrounded by the mesmerizing Doon Valley and spectacular mountain hills. There are multiple adventure sports, run especially for visitors, such as pedal boating, zip liners, and zorbing ball. But note that all these activities are paid. The entry ticket to the lake costs only Rs 15 per person.

During the Monsoon season, its surroundings gain a serene atmosphere and look magnificent under dark clouds. The lake also serves as the best family picnic spot and lies on the Dehradun to Mussoorie road. Distance-wise, it is located hardly 7 km before Mussoorie near the Dhobi Ghat.

Lal Tibba:

The Lal Tibba trek is one of the most famous treks of Mussoorie. The peak of the trek is also considered the highest peak in this region. Through the dense forests of Deodar trees, the trail of the trek is well-paved and takes you to the height of 7463 ft. On reaching the top of the mountain, you will find an antique telescope that was installed by the army back then. The view of the snow-capped peaks with its help is clear and enthralling.

This trek to Lal Tibba is located on a Depot hill of Landour.  Landour is a pristine village which was named after a hamlet in Southeast Wales. It first served as a recovery area for Colonial soldiers and later converted into this quaint town.

Forest Research Institute:

The FRI stands for Forest Research Institution, which regulates its research in the field of forestry education, its extension, and more. This was first founded in 1906 and is one of the oldest institutions. This university provides training to the officers who come here after clearing UPSC for the IFS post. It is located in the Mall Road area of Dehradun city.

Its campus showcases the Greco-Roman architecture which was designed by the Viceroy of that time, Freeman-Thomas. It is among the National Heritage sites. For tourists, its opening time is 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM but closes between 1 PM to 1:30 PM for lunch. We recommend you do a guided tour for better knowledge and experience.

Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple:

The Tapkeshwar Mahadev Mandir in Dehradun is settled on the bank of river Tons. The main lingam of Lord Shiva is built on the top of a natural cave. The Shivling of Mahadev is considered Swayambhu and it is believed that this temple is at least 6000 years old. It was also the residence of Guru Dronacharya from Mahabharata, and hence, it is also called Drobna Cave.

According to Hindu Mythology, his wife Kalyani was not able to breastfeed their children, Ashwatthama and Dronacharya also couldn’t afford milk from the market. So, the kid prayed to Shiva. The milk started dripping from the Shivling and that’s how Ashwatthama got fed.

On this tour, you must visit this ancient temple and have Darshans of the deity. There are no entry charges and it only takes 1-2 hours to complete the visit. From Dehradun Railway Station, this temple is located at a distance of 7.9 km.

Har Ki Pauri:

In the most revered city of Uttarakhand state, the Har ki Pauri, which means “The feet of Lord Vishnu,” is situated. This area in Haridwar is regarded as one of the most significant and sacred places of worship in Sanatan Dharma. As per the ancient texts and scriptures, after Samudra Manthan, when Dhanvantri was carrying the divine drink away from the God and evils, this place received a few drops of the pious Amrita, and since then, it has become a Devout land.

Throughout the year, millions of pilgrims visit here and bathe in the holy water of Ganga to achieve salvation after death.

You must also pay a visit to this prominent ghat of Haridwar and create a memory of the World Famous Ganga Aarti to cherish for a lifetime.
