Yamunotri Dham
Religious History of Yamunotri:
The Yamuna River is considered the second most sacred river in India. The folklore of the place says that only by bathing in this holy river can one cleanse his evil deeds and attain redemption after death.
For people who embark on the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage, Yamunotri is a significant shrine for them. It’s also said that River Yamuna is the daughter of God Surya and sister of Yamraj (the god of death) and hence offering devotion to her is equal to pleasing them both.

Like other Char Dham sites, Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath, Yamunotri also has the same temperature variations. In general, when you visit Yamunotri, you will witness the cold season in any of the months. No matter which month you go there, ultimately you are going to witness a pleasant cold.
Besides the cold, Yamunotri receives frequent rainy showers also. So you should be prepared to face cold and rain at that altitude of Yamunotri Dham.
Yamunotri Dham is a temple devoted to the River Goddess, Yamuna ji. This revered shrine is located at an elevation of 3,291m hence the Weather always remains cold and freezing. In this whole tour of Chota Char Dham Yatra, the Yamunotri temple is the first stop. The trek to Yamunotri Dham begins from the Jankichatti which is at a distance of 5.0 km.
Here are some facts, guidelines and tips to follow while travelling in this region:
Yamunotri is located at 3291 meters above sea level. It is the source of the Yamuna River and the seat of Goddess Yamuna. The temperature at Yamunotri ranges from 6°C to 20°C in summer (May-June) and from -7°C to 5°C in winter (November-April). The temple remains closed from November to April due to snowfall.
On the first day of this Yamunotri Yatra, you have to reach the beginning point. And we shall send one of our drivers to pick you up from Delhi. You along with your luggage will come to the 1st intermediate destination Haridwar. Haridwar will be the place where your 1st-night stay of this Yamunotri Tour is scheduled. So now after making you reach there, our driver will leave. Henceforth, you will have the remaining hours of the day. Because you'll come to Haridwar from Delhi by covering 5 hours of distance, you will be a little tired. So firstly take a rest and then get ready to visit Haridwar. However, we do not make you visit intermediate destinations. But you can go to see the town on your own.
The second day of the Yamunotri Yatra will be about the Barkot journey. You should be ready to leave Haridwar at the given time. Our driver will start the road journey at the scheduled time to Barkot. To reach your second intermediate destination Barkot, you will drive via the Dehradun route. You'll witness towns like Doiwala, Harrawala, Dehradun, Sudhowala, Selakui, Sahaspur, Nainbagh, Sahiya, Lakhamandal and Naugaon. This distance from Haridwar to Barkot is about 193 Km. So you'll reach there in about 6 hours. However there is another route via Bhagwanpur to Barkot from Haridwar, but usually it is a bit longer. After reaching Barkot, you can relax in your room.
Day 3rd of Yamunotri Dham Yatra is scheduled to reach Yamunotri Dham. So we shall make you reach Jankichatti in the early hours of the day. From there, walk to the temple along with your groupmates. That route is inaccessible by Four-wheelers, so all the pilgrims trek on that path. After covering the trek, you will reach Yamunotri Dham. And then you can do the pooja and all according to your wish. After Darshan, you have to trek again to return to Jankichatti. There, our driver will meet you and he will drive you to the Barkot. This 3rd-night stay will be in Barkot.
On Day 4 of Yamunotri Dham Yatra, you'll be returning to Haridwar. Communicate with the assigned driver and be ready to return. Again you will pass through the same route and reach there by evening. In the evening, you can go to Haridwar market. If you have not done shopping yet, then Haridwar market offers good options to shop. Usually, travellers want to shop for things for their loved ones. So you can also finish the shopping that day in Haridwar.
On the last day of Yamunotri Yatra, you'll return to Delhi. Once the driver starts the car, you'll reach there in 4-5 Hours. But before leaving Haridwar, you should finish all the formalities of check out etc.
