Kedarnath:
One of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, the Kedarnath is considered the toughest to reach. Still, many devotees from all over the country come here every year due to its religious significance, ethereal grace, and glory. The temple requires 20-22 km of trekking. But the views from its highest peak are so mesmerizing that it would overcome all the fatigue you would get from the tough trek.
According to the legends, God Shiva resides in the Kedarnath as an incarnation of a Lingam. Badrinath:
In the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state, on the banks of river Alaknanda, the Badrinath Dham, or the Badrinarayan temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu. Being one of the Char Dham sites of Uttarakhand, it is highly worshipped and considered very holy and pious. It opens for six months and remains closed for half of the year.
The temple is situated at an elevation of 3100m and provides a 360°view of the whole town encircled by the enchanted Himalayas. It is believed that Adi Shankaracharya during the 19th century had built this sacred sanctum.
Gangotri:
The temple dedicated to the most pious and holy river of Hinduism, is located near the Bhagirath stone. This Hindu pilgrimage site is the birthplace of the river Ganga where Bhagirath performed penance and so for that reason, the river is also called Bhagirathi.
The Gangotri temple is elevated at the height of 3,100m above mean sea level yet it attracts a huge number of travellers to have Darshans and worship the Maa Ganga One seeking peace and serenity must visit here once in their lifetime. Yamunotri:

Being highly elevated at an altitude of 4,421m the temple premise furnishes the panoramic view of the snow-draped Himalayan mountains. Harsil:
Snuggled between tall, lofty, and snow-covered mountains, this quaint town is known for its scenic beauty and tranquillity. The valley is greatly inhabited by the people of the Bhotia tribe and is located in the Uttarkashi district.
The town is heightened at an elevation of 2,745m and so delivers the delightful vistas of the entire valley. Furthermore, offering solitude away from the hustle-bustle of commercial life. Harsil is also very famous for its apple production which was introduced by an Englishman, Fredrick E Wilson. Harsil also receives heavy snowfall during winter and that allures the tourists the most.
Kharsali:
The village, Kharsali, can be memorized as the winter abode of the idol of Goddess Yamunotri who is brought down every year during Diwali and remains there until April. All these ceremonies are being done with great enthusiasm and celebration.
This serene and peaceful Hamlet is hardly 6-7 km away from the Yamunotri Dham in the Uttarkashi district. Its base at an elevation of 2675m offers the magnificent sightseeing of the snow-covered Himalayas.

- Include woolen clothes while packing for the yatra.
- You should consult your doctor before going on Yatra.
- If you have motion sickness then bring some prescribed medicines for tour.
- Altitude sickness is quite common there, so take care of your health and don’t ignore any symptoms like fatigue, exhaustion, vomiting, etc.
- Keep some dry fruits and light snacks in your bag, so that you can eat whenever you feel down.
- Due to scarcity of resources, you could have to face a lack of proper market. So pack your essentials accordingly.
- Keep drinking water at regular intervals, so that your body couldn’t be dehydrated.
- You should completely avoid alcohol and other intoxicated drinks in the Yatra. As it is a religious trip, so follow some religious beliefs also.
