Story about Chandrashila

The Chandrashila is made up of two words Chandra as ‘moon’ and ‘Shila’ as Rock, so it literally means ‘moon rock’. Here we want to say that the name of the summit has a linkage with the moon. Chandrashila Peak is famous for two reasons: one is that it is believed that Lord Rama meditated here after defeating King Ravana. And another is that Chandra Dev spent time here while doing penance. In Hinduism, Chandra Dev is assumed as the God and people pray to him often.
